three-dimensional camera shell
The following design was conceived and constructed in collaboration with the start-up company AEMass, which focuses on the creation of a 360-degree camera. In preparation for a convention in Helsinki, I helped design a shell that would hide the developing prototype while it was being presented to potential investors.
The shell fit around the dimensions of all compiled components, accounted for ventilation, and opened up an adequate field of view to allow the camera to access its subject unobstructed.
Conceptually, the client was interested in achieving a design that seemed futuristic, yet accessible. The rounded form reflected the 360-degree nature of the camera, while the oscillation of each ring created a softer effect, mimicking a veil that would block one’s view of the object it was covering.
